blah

I went to bed feeling great last night but then around 3 am I started waking up every hour from a SORE THROAT!

Then when I was getting ready for work the nasal drip started. I can't be sick. The marathon is only a few days away. I hope it clears up by then. I was going to go for a run tonight, but rather than pushing it I am going to go work in the office. Please, please go away!

Have you every raced with a cold?

  1. Oh crap, that sucks!! Wow, I hope that you start to feel better soon. I have never had to race with a cold but I have run...I just went slower than usual and maybe not as far. Take care of yourself! I will keep my fingers crossed for you:)

  2. Four days should be enough time. You wont be 100% but the adrenaline and excitement will help you. Atleast for 20 miles!
If their is any possibility, sleep as much as you can. Get some cold/flu teas (Yogi and Traditional Medicinals are easy to find brands) you may want yarrow and peppermint to help warm the body and sweat it out.
DONT stress, you can totally race with a cold! Have fun in the Hill Country!

  3. Yes, I have raced with a chest cold, recovering from brochitis and I was fine. My experience has been that, with a cold, my airways open up and I am fine during the run. When I stop, I cough a lot, but during the run I am okay. Try not to worry and make sure to stay hydrated since cold meds can dehydrate you. I'm rooting for you!
